Launching Project Solo

Description

I've started a channel documenting my experience with reclaiming individuality in a life that's overwhelmed with responsibility, duty and obligation. In this video, I talk about what effects an excessive focus on responsibility can have, the tendency to depend on others to validate our decisions, and how there are some things that you absolutely should not tell your wife, husband or significant other. I also pitch the idea for Project Solo - a psychological experiment that I'm trying out, in which you come up with a project that is entirely your own, and which you must keep secret. Here are the rules:

1. You must keep it absolutely secret and not tell anyone for at least 1 week

2. The first part of the project, a first deliverable has to be exactly 1 week from today

3. You must do it alone, with what you know and what you have – don’t ask for help

4. You must plan to be the only person in charge of it for at least 1 year - so you can't sell it, share it or give it away

5. Please don't pick something pathetic – you must be proud of what you do, even if it's small

6. Do something that’s good for your soul – don’t start a project for greed, some obligation you've had, or anger (no wars, please)

7. Be honest about your motivations - it's okay to want money, fame and admiration

8. Use this week to learn how your brain works - observe yourself, and what motivates and hinders you

Please try it with me - even if only for a week. And, if you feel like sharing, circle the date and throw up a video about what you did and why one week from the day you start.
