Bettina will be speaking with Evelyn Rae, a conservative political commentator and writer and former police officer.
After almost 12 years working firstly as a uniformed cop and then as a police detective, Evelyn is concerned that police are required to enforce unjust laws, particularly in relation to domestic violence. They have lost all discretion when it comes to taking action against an alleged domestic violence or sexual abuse offender. Police officers are no longer required to assess evidence, the decision to charge men on the basis of unproven allegations has been taken out of their hands. The feminist grip on our criminal justice system means serving officers are denied their former role in determining whether a crime has taken place.
Evelyn has unique insights into how this is playing out in her former workplace, from disquiet amongst many older cops who resent the unfair treatment of accused men through to zealous inexperienced officers who just keep their heads down and do what the system requires.
