The Illinois Supreme Court will decide in March on whether or not the state will eliminate cash bail as written in the SAFE-T Act. If cash bail is eliminated, then only a citation will be given for these crimes listed below. These crimes would be treated like a parking ticket.

    2nd degree murder

    Arson

Driving on a suspended or revoked license

    Possession of methamphetamines

    Kidnapping

    Aggravated DUI

    Robbery

    Non-domestic aggravated battery

    Drug offenses

    Illegal possession of firearms

    Aggravated assault.

Hopefully, the elimination of cash bail would be ruled to be unconstitutional due to the Eighth Amendment of the US Constitution.
