    Age affords me an encyclopedia of knowledge and experience that I can draw upon and apply to any situation that may present itself. Even for those challenges that may seem incongruent with my background, I am able to pull through with a plan to at least gain some momentum. For those things that are known, AI will dominate the landscape since the knowledge is already present. AI simply allows a method, regardless of articulation of a coherent or accurate question, to obtain said knowledge and move forward. Where AI fails, is to mimic the human ability to extrapolate the realized outlier conditions and form a plan to blindly navigate a path towards a solution or a completely new horizon. This, of course, is inextricably dependent around self-awareness or perception of oneself.

    Self-awareness is an animal unto itself. It requires a level of perception of self into deep levels of consciousness that doesn't recursively bound oneself to infinity. I learned recursion in college while in a Lisp programming class. It's basically a function that calls itself over and over again until the condition is met. The result cascades back up to the initial calling method. I won't get into the canonical structures of programming, since they are very limiting in the world of Cognitive Intelligence where I spend considerable time working out algorithms of perception. Believe me when I say, you will stretch your mind in ways you never thought possible. But coming back to awareness, perception is recursive but also simultaneous. Another article in the future, perhaps.

    To provide a basic example, consider this scenario. Imagine you are dropped into an unknown region. How would you navigate back to civilization? The first step, aside from the initial panic of being lost, is to place a marker of where you are currently at. The second step is to associate this marker with any existing features that may be around you. In the dessert or the high seas, you would use the sun and at night, the moon and the stars. Imagine that, something that are ancient ancestors learned years ago. Once you attain an origin, you travel relative to this origin. With enough repetition, you will find yourself at civilization. This is an awareness of self in a physical location.

    In the mind, you do the same but with thoughts. Until AI, this concept of 'thought as an origin' was never brought into existence. The question becomes, what thoughts are the stars? Therein lies the problem that humanity is grappling with right now. There are two competing factions. One, are of those who wish to live in the world of the known and attempt to redefine the variables to fit their level of comfort. Or, of those who use thought and formulate new or refine existing ideas and push beyond where they are at. In other words, improve ones life.

    Freedom of speech is necessary to attain this new level of awareness. At least, it is a tool that will get you there. It certainly seems the proper method from my perspective. I say the following many times and I will no doubt continue to provide examples of this statement: the method of thought one uses to form opinions is the same method that forms solutions to problems. Without freedom of thought, where Speech is necessary to stumble into a coherent and describable dialog, there is no motivation to improve. Once this is stifled, there is no movement. There is only chaos and regression.

    In this world where pathological forces are constantly at odds with the natural expansion of human consciousness, the animus towards freedom of thought will sow the destruction of these forces. Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn teaches us this. For a while now, I've been looking for other employment opportunities. Like my father before me, this is exceedingly difficult due to my age. I have this knowledge and experience but it seems prospective employers are looking to fill in certain checkboxes instead of looking for the combination of experience, knowledge, ability and fearlessness to push the envelope and go beyond the half-step incrementalism that plaques so many companies. This is the problem that will end many a company I assure you.

    Without this freedom, how can one go beyond ones current state? I have my dreams like so many. But like the line in the song "Something for Nothing", 'You can't have something for nothing. You can't have your freedoms for free. You won't get wise with the sleep still in your eyes no matter what your dream might be '. Thank you Neal Peart. The economy of this world, hampers the dream. It stifles the individual and eventually civilization fails one company at a time. But I'll still keep looking. My thoughts propel me into new realms and it's this journey that offers me solace.
