‘ . . . a staggering percentage of young adults [have been] diagnosed with anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) . . . ’

‘to batten on someone’: transitive verb: to use someone or something for your own purposes, often in a way that causes harm or difficulties’

One: capitalists are intelligent and ruthless. They have outsmarted the political left every time.

Two: if the political left were truly concerned about the welfare of ‘LGBTQI’ children, they’d strive to differentiate actual gender dysphoria from co-morbidities like depression and anxiety.

Three: capitalists and the revolutionary left, who used to be deadly enemies, are now significantly in alliance (or the capitalists are ruthlessly exploiting the left, but the left isn’t smart enough to figure it out . . . )

Four: the working class has largely become mini-capitalists. So the devolutionary left has an enormously reduced army of foot soldiers.

Five: but the social and cultural and economic decline of the west guarantees a growing cohort of mentally-ill children.

Six: the revolutionary left has long been guilty of reductionism, that is, of making a handful of extreme policies the foundations of their political program.

So, given this history of reductionism, and given the left’s need to expand its body of supporters, is it too fantastic to suggest that they are battening on mentally ill/queer children, as a cohort, with the cold-blooded intention of making them the new working class, the foot soldiers of the devolution?
