‘There are no births. No children. No families.’

Me, in a Post about Fausto-Sterling’s Sexing The Body.

‘Lee Edelman denounces . . . the liberal logic that includes the future of children as a fundamental consideration in any form of political reasoning.’

    ‘ . . . my a**hole is on fire . . . deliciousssss!’

The perspective of the author of Minoritarian Liberalism would be hilarious if it were not tragic.

This is not to say that it’s not a fine theoretical text. However, it reminds me of the party-communist comrades of the 1990’s:

the commitment to completely remaking the world results in these theorists inhabiting what is, in effect, an alternative universe.

And it’s in this alternative universe that parents aren’t ‘looking after’ their kids, they are ‘surveilling’ and ‘controlling’ them. Their commitment to raising their biological kin is ‘reinforcing heteronormative structures.’

So, we’re in the first person for this Post:

in order to experience as much as possible, I have, over decades, interacted with a wide wide range of political organizations.

‘An animal activist group’s call not to kill mice plaguing rural parts of Australia in the name of “human supremacy” has been labelled “stupid” by politicians.’

The group in question was PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. I’ve spent a couple of days with them. In the case above, they wanted the plague-proportions mice to be released.

Where? Put them in the farm pick-up, and drive them a mile from the house?!

A Bolshevik I met at university – he described himself as a Bolshevik – explained to me over coffee how an actually-quite-small group of socialists could gain control of the Student Council, and its newspaper and funding, and then (I assumed) completely ignore the interests of the union-dues-paying students, and use that newspaper as an organ to foment communist revolution.

Many readers have likely heard stories of separatist feminists: ‘The lesbian separatists of a generation ago created a shadow society devoted to living in an alternate, penisless reality.’

Will we ever be able to gain insights into How Stoopid Ideas Gain Traction?

Why aren’t people with stoopid ideas always just laughed at?

What particular circumstances allow stoopid ideas to gain traction?

Why are some people so vulnerable to such ideas?

Why do other people choose to stand about like potted palms while such ideas are gaining powerful traction?
