‘What's to be done with a prodigal son?

Welcome him home with open arms

Throw a big party, invite your friends

    Our boy's come back home

When a girl goes home with the oats he's sown

It's draw your shades and your shutters’

Suppose you moved to a small town in which drive-by shootings at kindergartens didn’t rate a paragraph in the local paper, but you went to the electric chair if your front fence wasn’t painted Farmhouse Beige.*

The point here is obviously that customs/laws both vary wildly around the world, and reflect the cultures in which they are enforced -- formally or informally.

And customs/laws that regulate human sexual activity are perhaps the most contentious of all.**

What, for example, might ‘hyper-sexuality’ be? Are homosexual males ‘hyper-sexual’? Is it how much sex you have? Or who you have it with? Or what sort of sex it is?

But the real question is: says who?

Now we lead ‘gender’ back on stage. If there is any generic over-the-decades definition of ‘gender,’ it would certainly include constraints on the sexual behavior of citizens, particularly women.

Let’s talk ‘pure political theory’ here for a second. To constrain the sexual behavior of consenting adults in a modern secular nation-state is a very serious undertaking. To do so is to open the door to broad and concerted and radical ‘pushback.’

'Feminism’ and ‘gender’ and ‘trans’ are, one way or another, rebellions against this and other inequities; and they gain great traction for their bogus science from folks who are angry enough to be willing to believe that 'science.'

*I have a great memory of a cow lying on the cool tile floor of an Indian train station. Disturbing a cow is a seriously anti-social offence in India. So the queue of humans waiting for tickets went around the cow.

**Particularly – an issue the left just will not discuss – the fact that the baby of a son or daughter of a family is ipso facto biological kin of that family. Complicated!

And for ten bonus points: what's the song? and what year was it released?

"And Mrs. Taylor sure seems to use a lotta ice

    Whenever he's away

And Mr. Baker can you tell us why

Your secretary had to leave this town?"
