    ‘I completely and clearly understand the words . . . 'progressive’ . . . and 'Communism.'

Nana has pointed out that ‘Lysenkoism’ is a mind-bender of a word/concept. If an apology will help, I offer one.*

So we’ll spend a couple of Posts explaining a bunch of stuff. To begin: ‘Progressive’ is not revolutionary. ‘Communism’ is revolutionary.

But let’s begin at the beginning (and use few terms):

Trofim Lysenko was the guy who started it all. He had a dumb idea; the commies loved it; people starved in massive numbers. It ended in the 1960’s.

But here’s the thing that our ‘course’ is all about:

this business of the left stuffing bogus science down people’s throats didn’t end with Trofim Lysenko!

    It has happened repeatedly.

Now here, readers, is where the apology fits in. This-thing-that-has-happened-repeatedly is a sort of political shape-shifter.

Any normal person would be excused for looking at this whole creepy Twenty-First Century cancel-culture thing, and saying, ‘Well, this is new!’ And it is new. But it is also not new!

And the second you figure this out – that it is not new – a whole bunch of stuff about what is happening to your country snaps into focus.

Let’s recap, and finish for today:

the left shoves bogus science down people’s throats. Trofim Lysenko and the Bolsheviks were the original lefties who did this.

And most people think that It All ended with him.

But we are going to explore at length the idea that it didn’t end with Trofim and the Bolsheviks!

This will require learning some political theory because that’s how we’ll be able to say, ‘Okay, that episode was Communist,’ and ‘Okay, that episode was progressive,’

    See you tomorrow.

*Segerstrale uses the term ‘neo-Lysenkoism.’ So I’m glad I didn’t use that!
