‘How many levels of government do [left-wingers] advocate?’

We will triumph today if we can just differentiate some notions.

One: the authoritarian left are not the only political current guilty of authoritarianism. Fascist states are not happy-go-lucky places, and neither are religious dictatorships (theocracies).

Two: there is surely a huge discussion in the following:

environmental regulations are perhaps an example of a social imposition with truly broad support. If your next-door neighbor starting using some left-over 1950’s arsenic-based pesticide, I imagine you’d raise a ruckus.

Now, readers, we are indeed struggling with categories here; but will you accept that environmental regulations are more so ‘social’ than ‘political’? But things like jailing people for refusing to call a biological female ‘he’ – this is ‘political.’

This gives us the notions of ‘social bureaucracies’ and ‘political bureaucracies.’ So we’re not just looking, then, at more bureaucracies, but at ‘political’ – punitive – bureaucracies.

However, it gets worse! ‘Politics’ is the business of bringing power to bear to get your agenda fulfilled. Sometimes this happens within the existing system.

But this postmodernist Gramsci-an left is using processes – bureaucracies -- outside the existing governmental system. Social media comes immediately to mind. I have seen a corporate email template that had ‘Gender’ as a required field.*

Three: technology is the nightmare accelerator of it all.

So, how many levels of bureaucracy do radical left-wingers want? Who knows? A million? A billionty?

Even the most violent party-communist revolutions had theoretical goals: the withering of the state, the ultimate achievement of genuine democracy. The contemporary devolutionist left, though, seems oriented to a boundless punitive system of systemic and extra-systemic bureaucracies.

*This, readers, is why we have taken so much trouble to understand the notion of ‘devolution.’ These extra-systemic shenanigans, like left-wing teachers breaking rules to get queer theory into children’s hands, is devolutionist.
