    PART II:  Imago Dei & The Tree of Lives

    The bliss of Esoteric Consummation is what sets the stage for Al’Arabi’s Imago Dei. G-d created us for intimate discussions, not only with our mate, and, primarily out of gratitude for the joys of this intimacy, also with Him. These tete-a-tetes  begin with the kun-fia-kun of logos within us and between us and those we especially and compulsively touch sexually. The need for these connubially-charged recitals lead us to perform good deeds that maintain and prosper life, which activities actualize the Names of Allah. Thus, marriage completes Islam’s deen.

    Beards, beads, and mumbo-jumbo chanting alongside magic carpets or lit candles simply mime the exaggerated rubbish of pagan foolishness; most of which middens obscures Imago Dei and has brought the entire Middle East to reiterative and bloody confrontations, even with fellow believers. The reason for this savagery is the violation of marriage. We fail to see it as the holy grail of God's Kingdom within before it manifests without.

    Re-creation is a first fruit on theTree of Lives whose roots reach into unseen realms. Al Qur'an says this life force is like water. Water not only mediates life in matter but also takes on the shape and characteristics of whatever form of substance it enters. Think on it ... most carefully if you seek wisdom.

    Creation's recapitulations require good-deed-doing for optimized outcomes and evolutionary improvements; and all this in conscious submission to logos, for and with our closest neighbor (spouse). Marital dynamics are thus designed to mold each partner in Imago Dei or the ‘imitation of G-d' — as the Catholics say. This cannot take place in convent or conclave by ritually manufacured substitutes for the real thing. Hence, the golden rule of Imago Dei is to ‘do good unto others, which ideally begins with your family with a view towards consummation with your spouse as an adult on the Tree of Lives’ continuum. This traditional path embarrasses all others; so much so it is a politically incorrect topic of discussion.

    Such a congruent society is in submission to the Divine Performative and will also guard against promiscuity, infidelity and adultery. When called on for assistance, they make certain nothing and no one—including another so-called 'partner'—interferes with the destiny or purpose of a blest marriage. There is nothing abhorrent about this archetype except for unrequited, self-absorbed, evil cliques who promote immoral appetites. Therein lies the rub.

    If for any reason you are not on this path, admit it, repent, ask G-d's help, and then consciously find a solution when and if possible. If you cannot yourself for any reason, then submit to the fellowship of those who can and do; and then serve them as companions as best you are able. Anything else is an antinomian lie that invites hellishness. This principle (spiritual law) makes all other approaches to tassawuf superfluous if not heeded.

    This principle makes all other approaches to any tassawuf trance superfluous. In other words, if one wishes to purify the heart, do what the amish do: sons and husbands must help their mothers and wives do the dishes and change diapers in peace — and mothers and wives must clear and ease the path of destiny for their menfolk—so also should follow the rest of the community, especially the unmarried whose resources can and do make critical differences to all. So kudos to all singletons who hear and obey this inherent call from the cosmos.

    Thus, the faithful and loyal annihilation of one’s self-centered willfulness, in deference to actualizing mutual benefit, is what aligns our will with the Dao of heaven. It everywhere begins with marriage and eventually—when faithful—qualifies as a rebirth or resurrected Christos Transcendence by way of initiation into experiential knowledge; specifically the knowing of grace made available by dying to self in conjugal submission to our spouse’s destiny and welfare. This is not celebrated by ticker tape parades or saint cadaver processions.

    I suspect this is why Mohammed is reported to have said "die before you die", in concert with Jesus who complained of the walking dead. It is a principle that carries conditional and proportionate celestial weight always and globally. And take note: no other exchange of human resources compares to the divine grace made available to well-informed, well-married heterosexuals in the congruent unicity of conscious transcendence (see Contrition: Dali’s Last Supper). It just doesn’t happen elsewhere. Their's is a bough on the evergreen's true vine.

    Experiential knowing is what nails our surrendered soul to the Tree of Lives in apostolic imitation of all prophets and genuinely uncelebrated saints. If you don’t have it, you are not well-married … not yet. But there is hope. It took me most of life to reach and I am still working at its forge. It is objectively and/or subjectively possible for everyone who awakens to the authentic spirituality of Rumi’s Imago Dei. No doubt legalists, agnostics, degenerates and atheists will scoff, only to continue and miss the mark, mostly out of cultural and traditional chauvinist biases authored by a continuum of trans-generational conmen, not unlike those who taught NOI’s Elijah Mohammad (see: Contrition).
