Description

When you dig a hole in the ground and decide to fill it in, the hole gets smaller, right? That's not the case with black holes. When you put material into a black hole, it actually gets more massive, thus becomes more of a black hole. I think this applies in psychological situations as well. Sometimes, we're down or lack confidence and need some encouragement. That's like having a hole in our psychological state, and filling it in makes it smaller or gets rid of it. In other cases, where the problem is a profound lack, a psychological black hole might develop, which carries with it a kind of entitlement so that indulging it makes it worse, not better. In this episode of James Lindsay OnlySubs, my subscribers-only podcast, I give some of my thoughts about this phenomenon and what it implies about dealing with people who have them. I think psychological black holes can be treated, but the treatment is specific and offers insights about how to deal with people being pulled into the Woke vortex. Join me to see what I think.
